Living Habit Disease

Lifestyle diseases are caused by lifestyle habits such as diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol consumption, and stress.

Cancer, cerebrovascular disease, and heart disease, the three leading causes of death among Japanese people, and their risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and arteriosclerosis are all considered to be lifestyle-related diseases.

According to the results of a multi-purpose cohort study published by the National Cancer Center in 2012, the risk of cancer is reduced by 14% in men and 9% in women for every one of the following five healthy habits: smoking cessation, alcohol consumption, salt reduction, exercise, and proper weight.

Thus, since disease and death can be avoided depending on lifestyle habits such as salt reduction, smoking cessation, and exercise, it is considered important to thoroughly prevent the onset of lifestyle-related diseases that can be avoided by improving lifestyle habits.
